My task was to research, design, and develop a digital solution for CleanLease. This solution aimed to enable CleanLease's target audience to independently manage issues, gain insights, and, in turn, improve organizational processes.
Initially, I needed to identify who CleanLease's target audience is, understand their frustrations, and determine if there are differences in requirements for these audience segments. To approach this project, I divided it
using the double-diamond research method. This structured approach enabled me to tackle a broad assignment with clarity and precision.
Throughout the process, several aspects went exceptionally well. Firstly, my proactive attitude was noted by my internship supervisor. I actively conducted interviews, which provided valuable insights into the
needs and expectations of CleanLease’s target audience. Additionally, I had the opportunity to physically join a CleanLease driver during their daily activities and attended a client meeting. These hands-on experiences offered a deeper
understanding of the challenges faced by clients.
Furthermore, this involvement allowed me to gather practical insights, which directly contributed to designing a product that addresses the needs of CleanLease’s clients. Through continuous engagement
with different stakeholders, I ensured that the solution I developed was both relevant and impactful.
Overall I am extremely proud of my efforts, especially the fact that I singlehandedly involved such a wide variety of people with my project. This helped create a final product which was positevely embraced by CleanLease, and actually serves CleanLease's clients.
During my internship, I gained valuable insights into understanding and addressing the unique needs of diverse stakeholders. Engaging with clients, drivers, internal teams, and even external companies through interviews and hands-on activities helped me develop a deeper understanding of their challenges and requirements.
Using the double-diamond research method allowed me to approach complex tasks, ensuring thorough exploration at each stage: research, ideation, design, and validation.
Collaborating closely with various teams, and external companies also taught me the importance of open communication, feedback, and creating solutions for real-world users.
Overall, this experience improved my problem-solving, and collaborative skills, preparing me for future projects with a more research-driven approach.
I faced several challenges during my internship, including the broad scope of the assignment, which made it difficult to focus on specific areas initially.
Another issue was delayed and sometimes difficult communication between stakeholders, such as drivers, clients, and internal teams, this sometimes hindred the amount of information available. Additionally,
limited engagement with end-users made it harder to gather feedback/validate. This was combatted by involving more external experts- and peers.
Managing technical
functionality and user experience(especially considering the broad target audience) also created challenges in balancing expectations.
Another thing that I noticed, and also got feedback on was the fact that I wasn't communicating my progress too well at certain points.
This is something that progressively got better.
Despite these obstacles, I remained proactive and problem-solving, trying to improve and ensuring the project
progressed.
In future projects, I plan to apply the lessons I’ve learned to improve my approach. One key area to focus on is early and consistent involvement with stakeholders to ensure better collaboration. By setting clear expectations and maintaining regular updates, I can reduce delays and miscommunications.
Additionally, I aim to engage more directly with end-users/target audience members throughout projects to gather continuous feedback. This will help create solutions that better meet their needs. Incorporating user testing and gathering real-time insights will ensure the product is more refined and effective.
Another improvement will be setting benchmarks, although not fully possible in this project, it is something that I missed out on. By setting benchmarks, by for example timing target audience members doing certain tasks. You can prove that a solution actually
helps target audience members in doing things quicker/easier.
All-in-all I am extremely proud of the product I made, and I enjoyed my internship at CleanLease.
